From January 1, 2026, policies related to salaries and employment will be adjusted.

Starting from January 1, 2026, a number of new policies will officially take effect, notably those related to labor, employment, and workforce regulations.

Salary, Employment, and Workforce Policies Officially Adjusted from January 1, 2026

Starting January 1, 2026, a series of new policies officially take effect in Vietnam, notably those related to labor, employment, salaries, unemployment insurance, healthcare, and education sectors. These changes are expected to improve employee welfare, enhance workforce quality, and support sustainable economic development.

Regional Minimum Wage Increase

Under Government Decree No. 293/2025/ND-CP, both monthly and hourly regional minimum wages will increase across all four regions.

  • Region I: VND 5.31 million/month

  • Region II: VND 4.73 million/month

  • Region III: VND 4.14 million/month

  • Region IV: VND 3.7 million/month

Hourly minimum wages are also adjusted accordingly, aiming to better protect employees’ income and living standards.

New Regulations on Unemployment Insurance

The 2025 Employment Law introduces several important updates regarding unemployment insurance contributions and benefits.

Employees and employers will each contribute up to 1% of monthly salary funds, while the State provides additional support. Monthly unemployment benefits will equal 60% of the average salary of the last six months before employment termination.

Improved Salary & Allowances for Healthcare Workers

According to Resolution No. 261/2025/QH15, salary and professional allowances for healthcare workers will officially be enhanced from January 1, 2026.

Many medical professionals will receive higher starting salary levels and increased professional allowances, especially those working in emergency care, forensic medicine, mental health, and remote areas.

Teachers to Receive Highest Salary Ranking in Public Sector

The Law on Teachers officially takes effect from January 1, 2026, emphasizing that teachers’ salaries will be ranked at the highest level within the public administrative salary system.

Additional allowances and incentives will also apply to teachers working in disadvantaged regions, special education, and preschool education sectors.

These policy updates demonstrate Vietnam’s strong commitment to improving labor welfare, attracting high-quality talent, and strengthening sustainable workforce development nationwide.
